How we work
Start with the need. We examine the business problem and whether AI offers meaningful advantages over other trusted, proven approaches. Choosing to defer or decline adoption is a valid outcome.
Evaluate value and exposure together. We compare expected financial and operational benefits with customer data exposure, transaction risk, service disruption, vendor dependencies, and full implementation and oversight costs. We distinguish staff time released, cash savings, and risk reduction, with baselines and assumptions that can be reviewed.
Make authority explicit. We bind each authorized task to the resources and actions it requires, without combining unrelated sources of authority. Access to customer records does not establish permission to move funds, approve a transaction, or communicate externally. We examine how ordinary use or intentional misuse could redirect workflows, apply unintended authority, or disclose information—particularly when AI combines private data access, untrusted content, and external communication. Identity, scoped access, logging, and documentation alone do not establish that these authority boundaries hold.
Validate before expanding. We test safeguards, unauthorized action paths, failure scenarios, and fallback procedures before recommending broader use. Human review has defined decision authority and intervention points. Recovery testing addresses the operations the firm needs to continue.
Document the decisions. We provide a record of the adoption rationale, authorized uses, vendor dependencies, safeguards, test results, remaining risks, and accountable owners. Decisions and actions must be traceable so your teams can review what occurred and why.
Your Customers. Our Accountability.
You are accountable to your customers. Columbia ARC stands behind the work we deliver, with clear responsibilities, agreed deliverables, and candid explanations of findings and limitations. We put your customer relationships, operational continuity, security, and financial needs first—including when AI adoption is not justified. Our recommendations must serve your firm’s needs without pressuring you into technology investment.
